Celebrating Earth Day forced me to consider the mail I receive each week. Does Direct Mail work as a marketing tool for realtors? So many of you have told me it doesn't... that you throw all of the flyers you receive directly into the recycling without looking at them. But do you? Or do these flyers actually work to build name recognition?
The NRTeam business practice has been to stay away from the flyer war. As many of you know, I led the local schools' Environment Clubs for many years. It goes against my core beliefs to contribute to society's garbage woes in any way. On the other hand, I am running a business. It is important to stay competitive and top of mind with my neighbours and friends. What is the solution?
To now we have relied on referrals. And we do pretty well with our referral business. Thank you all very much for this. But should we participate in some way in the flyer war? If not a flyer, then what?
As we consider ways to honour the planet we live on, I know that our individual efforts do make a difference. We can't stop with the small things. We have to keep pushing our communities and our governments to do more.
