From the lively Ribfest on the waterfront to hikes at Mount Nemo, family fun at Springridge Farm, and dining at Burlington’s top restaurants and cafés, our guide covers the city’s must-see summer highlights (according to our experienced team!).

1. Explore Burlington’s Waterfront & Parks

Burlington’s lakefront is the city’s crown jewel in summer.

Spencer Smith Park  | 1400 Lakeshore Rd.

The heart of Burlington’s waterfront—this vibrant park hosts major summer festivals like the Sound of Music Festival, Ribfest, and the Beer Festival. Families love the playground and splash pad, while the iconic Brant Street Pier stretches 137 metres into the lake for stunning panoramic views.

Great Lakes Waterfront Trail

Perfect for walking, jogging, or cycling along Lake Ontario. It connects parks, beaches, and green spaces, offering a refreshing breeze and endless views. For a family friendly bike ride we recommend starting at the bottom of Appleby Line and taking it all the way to the Burlington's Beachway Park.

Burlington Beach | 1100 Lakeshore Road

Relax on the sand, go for a swim, or just meander along the the trail. A must-visit for these long, hot days we've been having.

Held every Labour Day weekend, this iconic event brings together smoky ribs, live music, and community spirit.

3. Outdoor Adventures & Nature Escapes

Nature lovers will find plenty of ways to recharge just minutes from downtown.

Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG)

One of the largest botanical gardens in Canada, spread across Burlington and Hamilton. Explore wetlands, walking trails, and themed gardens showcasing over 1,100 plant species. A peaceful and educational summer outing.

Mount Nemo Conservation Area | 5317 Guelph Line

Known for its rugged trails and scenic lookouts, this Niagara Escarpment spot is perfect for hiking, rock climbing, or a family picnic with breathtaking views. Be sure to tread carefully and watch your footing as it is cliffside with lots of caves. Also a good one to save for the fall as the colours from the escarpment are incredible!
